I'm excited to share with you the newest updates from my studio, including a new drawing fresh off the easel. ✨
Sometimes after finishing a painting, it's good to have a refresher in drawing, which was the case for me with this small piece.
The model reference is from Grafit Studio, which have some really great resources for artists, including reference packs. I highly recommend googling them if you're in need of some high-quality model references.
This pose in particular caught my attention because of the shape created by the model's arms. I was going to leave the background simple, but at a suggestion from a friend, (you know who you are 😉) I added the Calla lily around the model.
Yes, that is a flower, and not fabric, around the model. :)
The pose reminded me of that flower, and I thought it would be interesting to pair them together.
Once again, going with my intuition and not overthinking it.
It gives the drawing a sense of intimacy and a feeling of blossoming, of emergence.
