Hi Reader, I hope you're having a wonderful summer! ✨ 2024 is turning out to be the year of changes. There's a lot going on in the social media landscape right now, which has made me re-evaluate which platforms to focus on. But the great advantage you have is that no matter what happens in social media land, you will always stay connected and updated on my new paintings and events through my newsletter. It's one of the perks you have as a subscriber to my list. 😉 On that note, read on to find out what's cookin' in the studio. Brand New Painting Alert!I'm happy to share with you a new painting fresh off the easel. It's always fun when I get a chance to use iridescent paint; in this case, silver paint mixed with emerald green for the peacock feathers. The idea for this piece came intuitively. There was a call for paintings that either zoomed in on a subject or were small format. I was stumped in the beginning on what to paint. But looking around my studio, my eyes fell on the peacock feathers I have on my desk. The idea then sprung to my mind in a flash. Sometimes you have to research to come up with ideas for paintings. And sometimes, like in this painting, it springs forth from your intuition like magic. All the imagery and information in your subconscious gets triggered into a singular idea with just the right visual key. If you're also an artist, has this happened to you too? Let me know by replying to this email. ✨ This piece is part of 33 Contemporary's online exhibition MICRO, opening soon on Artsy! If you're interested in this piece, all you have to do is save it (place a heart ❤️ on it) when you go to Artsy.net. My gallery at 33 Contemporary will send you a very lucrative offer to purchase it. It's completely anonymous and the offer will be sent to your email. Click below to see video closeups of this piece and purchase info on Artsy.

During this trip, I saw many amazing works of art, including Kehinde Wiley's new show at the Museum of Fine Art in Houston. Check out my blog below to read my insights on the show, along with the reason why I think travel really is the best medicine for artists. :)

Hello Reader, Today, I arrive in your inbox with a message that, even if you're not an artist, you can still apply to all aspects of life. My print sale failed, but I'm not upset about it. In fact, I celebrate it! This 'failure' made me realize how much I had internalized the messages around what it means to be a 'successful' artist. Subconsciously, I had tied my worth as an artist to certain ‘achievements’ - how many social media followers, features in magazines, awards and accolades did I...
